According to scores just posted by Winter Guard International, MCM has edged the nearest competition (Pulse Percussion) by less than one point and looks to be in prime position to make a run for the title this week. Seemingly, Mystique’s only obstacle is RCC Indoor who comes into Dayton with an undefeated record this season.

Round one score recap below.

RCC Indoor is in group two, which includes 2014 WGI Finalists Rhythm X, Gateway Indoor, Infinity, Atlanta Quest, Cadets Winter Percussion, Orange County Independent, and POW Percussion. The full lineup for group two is below.

The top eight PIW scores from each round, plus the next four highest scores overall, will advance to the WGI Championships Semifinal Round. This means that the following ensembles are locks for PIW Semis:

  • Music City Mystique
  • Pulse Percussion
  • Matrix
  • United Percussion
  • Palmetto Percussion
  • Cavaliers Indoor Percussion
  • OC Indoor

Blue Knights, Vanguard, NorthCoast Academy, and MN Brass Indoor will have to hold out hope for a wildcard slot.

Due to the ensemble’s placement in round one, Capital City Percussion is mathematically barred from advancing.

More to come from Dayton.
